Recently, we had the pleasure of completing a stunning renovation project that perfectly embodies our commitment to preserving the charm of the original space while transforming it into something truly remarkable. This home is a classical revitalization with an elegant touch.

Sean Sullivan, owner of Living Stone Design + Build, had to say about the project: “We call this project ‘The Homestead Revival’ because immediately we saw a vision for it, and we saw what it had been in the past. The life had kind of gone out of it, so we saw a vison to breathe life back into it”

Laura Sullivan, owner of ID.ology Interiors & Design, shared her perspective: “Some of our favorite things about this home are the more open kitchen, which we were able to work in with a little bit of a plan adjustment to the current footprint.”

Sean: “We did wood ceilings, wood floors, and wood walls, all of which were locally milled. This is reminiscent of the classic farm of 1925 when this was originally built; they would have used local woods and covered every surface with wood. I love having defined spaces, so having comfortable 9-foot ceilings but still being able to have eight-foot doors and windows is really important to me.”

Laura: “In addition to that, we also wanted to introduce layering and dimension into our materials and finishes. We wanted to make sure there was some contrast in the patterns and textures in each room, so each room has a slightly different feel while still maintaining cohesiveness when you go from one space to another.”

Sean: “One of my favorite things about the design here is the open concept that Laura came up with, which she called the ‘Ambry Bath.'”

Laura: “Having an open concept in the primary bath gives it a more open and fresher feel. Some of the elements that make me feel like I’m coming home to a place I want to relax and be rejuvenated are the textures, the natural elements from the woods, the warmth, and keeping it bright and light with natural light. It makes it a place where I come to feel rejuvenated.”

Sean: “Coming home, to me, means being able to separate the busyness of everyday life from our private life. At the end of the day, we all want some peace and quiet, some respite from the busy world. Having a place of our own that we’ve designed, built, and furnished around our lifestyle gives us that opportunity. Our favorite thing about this house is coming home.”
